William Oldfield was born in 1847 in Swaffham and was the son of Henry Oldfield (1810) and Elizabeth. William was aged 14 in 1861 and was living with his parents in London Street, Swaffham, and was an apprentice harness maker. In 1871, William was living with his in-laws, John and Mary Broughton, in Long Row, Norwich St. Clement. He was working as a harness maker. He married Salome Elizabeth Emily Broughton (1849) in Norwich in 1867. In 1881 he was living at 8 Salisbury Terrace, Magpie Road, Norwich. In 1891 he was living at 27 Simpson Street in Battersea and still working as a harness maker. In 1901 he was living at 1 Urswick Road, Battersea. By 1911 he was widowed and living in the home of his daughter Isabella and son-in-law George Gurney at 8 Heath Road, Clapham. He was working as a harness maker with the LGO Company. He died in Battersea in 1933, aged 87.
