Mary Catherine Coe was born in 1810 at Spixworth and was the daughter of John Coe (1768) and Catherine Everett. She married blacksmith John Broughton (1809) at Spixworth Parish Church on 9th July 1838. In 1841 she was living at the forge near the church with her husband, her first child and her parents. In 1851 she was living at the forge at Lone Barn, Spixworth. She was present at the death of her mother in Spixworth on 9th July 1852. Sometime before 1861 the Broughtons moved to Norwich. In 1861, Mary was living in North Infirmary Road in Norwich St. Clement. In 1871, she was living in Long Row in the same parish of Norwich. She died from vomiting blood on 22nd March 1874, aged 63 in Waterloo, Coslany, Norwich.
