George Oldfield was born in London in 1883 and was the son of William Oldfield (1847) and Salome Elizabeth Emily Broughton. George was living at 27 Simpson Street, Battersea in 1891. In 1901 he was working as a labourer in a starch factory and was living at 1 Urswick Road, Battersea. He married in either 1904 or 1907.
