James Holding was born in 1860 in Hindley and was the son of John Holding (1830) and Mary Coman. In 1861 he was living in Ladies Lane, Hindley. In 1871 he was living in Ladies Lane and working as a coal miner. He married Ann Speakman in 1879. In 1881 he was living at the back of Longfield Street in Aspull and working as a coal miner. He had died by 1891.
