Jacob Holding was the son of James Holding (1860) and Ann and was born in Aspull in 1892. In 1901 he was living at the back of 11 Longfield Street and was working as a coal miner. In 1911 he was living in the household of his brother Joseph at 3 Cumberland Street, Whelley, and working as a grocer’s assistant.
