John Holding was the son of James Holding (1860) and Ann and was born in Aspull in 1880. In 1881 he was living at the back of Longfield Street in Aspull. In 1901 he was living at the back of 11 Longfield Street and was working as a coal miner. He married a woman named Margaret Williams in the Wigan RD in 1904. In 1911 he was living at 34 Wigan Road, New Springs, and working as a coal miner.
