Notes for William Eke
William Eke was the son of John Eke (1808) and Susannah Scott and was born , probably in Guestwick, in 1833. In 1841 he was living on the Green Guestwick. In 1851 he was living in Guestwick and working as an agricultural labourer. He married Sarah Ann Fuller in 1859. In 1861 he was living at Old Tulling Mill, Saxthorpe and was working as an agricultural labourer. By 1871 he had moved to Bedlington, near Morpeth in Northumberland, and was working in the coal industry. In 1881 he was living in Short’s Terrace, Bedlington, and was a labourer. In 1891 he was working as a hawker at Ratters Buildings, Bedlington. Sarah died sometime before 1901 when, a widower, he was living in the household of his daughter Christiana and son-in-law
