Kate Louisa Broughton was born on 22nd September, 1874 in Beccles. In 1881 she was aged 7 and was living in New Road, Beccles. In 1891 she was 16 and living in Ingate Street in Beccles. In 1901 she was aged 26 and working as a domestic servant in the Jolly Sailors Inn in Kirkley near Lowestoft. She married Henry Knights, a Pakefield fisherman and the illegitimate son of fisherman William Goldspink, on 17th July 1901. In 1911 she was living with her family in her father's house at 500 London Road in Lowestoft. In 1939 she was widowed and living at 27 St. George’s Road, Lowestoft. She died on 16th October 1954.
