Notes for Ann BUGG
Ann Bugg was probably born in Polstead in 1772, the daughter of John Bugg and Hannah, although some census information lists her as being born in Hinton, near Dunwich around 1778. If the Polstead ancestry is correct, she was the daughter of John Bugg. She married John Broughton (1768) around 1796 in Butley. Their first three children were born in Butley and the remainder in Plumstead and Edgefield. In 1841 she was living on The Green, Edgefield, with sons William and Benjamin. In 1851 she was a widow and was working as a nurse and living on an annuity in Edgefield. She was living in the household of William Lugg, an Edgefield gunsmith. Sometime before 1858, her next employer (unknown) shot himself and Ann went to live with her son William Broughton. In 1861 she was living in Ramsgate Street in Edgefield. She died on 21st September 1869 and was buried in Edgefield on 27th September.
