Notes for Immin (Emma) MANGNALL
Emma Mangnall - christened Immin but known often as Emma - was the daughter of Peter Mangnall (1822) and Mary Coop. In 1861 she was working as a silk weaver and was living at the Dams Head in Westhoughton. In 1871 she was working as a silk weaver and living in Chapel Lane, Westhoughton. She was a spinster from Westhoughton when she married Samuel Winward (1852) on April 24th 1876 at St Bartholomew's, Westhoughton. In 1881 she was living at 37 Grundy Street, Westhoughton. In 1891 she was living at 27 Grundy Street. In 1901 she was living at 6 Leigh Common in Westhoughton. She was widowed in 1903 when Samuel was killed at the Westhoughton boiler works of J. Musgrave & Sons. She gave evidence at the Coroner's inquest on 11th July 1903. In 1911 she was living with her sons James and Ernest at 8 Gerrard Street, Bolton. She died in Bolton Infirmary on 19th May, 1920, aged 68, from stomach and colon cancer. Her address at the time was given as 330 Church Street, Westhoughton.
