Mary Coop was born in 1823 and christened in Westhoughton on 1st June 1823. She was the daughter of James Coop (1786) and Mary Hodkinson. In 1841 she was living at Dobb Brow, Deane - later Westhoughton - and working as a silk weaver. She married Peter Mangnall at Deane Parish Church on 4th April 1847. In 1851 she was living in Dobb Brow, Westhoughton and working as a silk weaver. In 1861 she was working as a silk weaver and was living at the Dams Head in Westhoughton. Mary died from cancer of the stomach in Chapel Lane on 26th November 1875, at the age of 51.
