Ernest Winward was the son of Samuel Winward (b.1852) and Emma Mangnall. In 1891 he was living at 27 Grundy Street, Westhoughton. In 1901 he was living at 6 Leigh Common in Westhoughton. In 1911 he was living with his mother and brother James at 8 Gerrard Street, Bolton, and working as a coal miner. He was living at that address in 1920 when he was the informant on his mother’s death certificate. He probably died in the Farnworth RD in 1954, aged 62.
