Alice Alker, a widow whose maiden name is as yet unknown, was born in Barnsley in Yorkshire in 1820 and married William Holding (1818) around 1844. In 1851 she was living at Bottoms, Blackrod. In 1861 she was living in Dove Lane, Hindley and, in 1871, in Cale Lane, Aspull. She had died before 1881.
