Notes for Michael Ainscough
Michael Ainscough was born around 1864 in Blackrod and was the son of James Ainscough (1843) and Mary Ann Waring. In 1871 he was aged 7 and living in Cock Tavern Yard, Blackrod. In 1881 he was aged 17, was a drawer in a coal mine and was living in Little Scotland, Blackrod. He married Elizabeth Moore from Aspull, in 1886. in 1891 he was aged 27, was working as a miner and was living at 20 Little Scotland in Blackrod. In 1901 he was aged 37, was a coal miner hewer and was living at 12 Off Houghton Street in Hindley. His wife died in 1904 and he re-married, in 1909, to a widow called Jane Wright. In 1911 he was living at 198 Wigan Road, Hindley, and working as a coal miner.
