John Markland (Jack) was born on 17th August 1910. In 1911 he was living at 46 Winter Hey Lane in Horwich, where his father was a butcher. He married Doris Ainscough in St. Catherine’s church, Horwich on 5th September 1942 and died from burns in Horwich in March 1994. He had a butcher's shop in Winter Hey Lane in Horwich. Jack and Doris had two children: Kathleen Mary (1946) and Arthur Winward (1950).
