Notes for Doris Ainscough
Doris Ainscough was born in Horwich on 20th February 1918 and was the youngest daughter of George Ainscough (b.1870) and Mary Ellen Winward. In 1939 she was living at 17 Leicester Avenue, Horwich, and was working as a wages clerk in Pickups sanitary pottery factory. Doris married John Markland, a Horwich butcher on 5th September 1942, and they had a shop in Winter Hey Lane in Horwich. Doris was living at 661 Chorley New Road, Horwich, when she died on 21st July 1994 of myocardial infarction and diabetes mellitus in Bolton General Hospital. Her estate was valued at £267,542.
