Notes for Frederick Markwell
Frederick Markwell was the son of basket maker Robert Markwell (1843) and Emma R. In 1901 he was working on a farm and living in Blyburgate Street, Beccles. He married Lily Florence Broughton in 1908. In 1911 he was working as a leather tanner’s shed man and living at 59 Northgate, Beccles. He enlisted in the Suffolk Regiment in 1915, became a prisoner of war, and was discharged in 1919. He became a basket maker. In 1939 he was living at 19 Ballygate, Beccles and was working as a basket maker. He died in Melton in 1969.
