Notes for James Holding
James Holding was the son of James Holding (1810) and Jane Goulding and was born in Blackrod in 1838). In 1841 he was living in Hill Lane, Blackrod. In 1851 he was living at Side of Moor, Aspull and working as a drawer in a coal pit. In 1861 he was living in Ladies Lane, Hindley, and working as a coal miner. He married a woman called Mary around 1866. In 1871 he was still living in Ladies Lane and working as a collery fireman. In 1881 he was living at 19 Chapel Street, Ilkeston, and was a colliery underviewer. In 1891 he was the undermanager at Cossall Colliery and living at 34 Station Road, Ilkeston. In 1901 he was listed as a mine manager and living at 57 Stanton Road, Ilkeston. He died in the Burton RD in 1910.
