Notes for William Holding
William Holding was born in 1837 in Blackrod and was the son of James Holding (1810) and Jane Goulding. In 1841 he was living in Hill Lane, Blackrod. In 1851 he was living at Side of Moor, Aspull, and was working as a drawer in a coal pit. In 1861 he was living in Ladies Lane, Hindley and was still listed as a drawer. He married a woman called Mary around 1861. In 1871 he was lstill living in Ladies Lane and was a coal miner. By 1881 he had become a colliery manager and was living at Alexandria House, Nottingham Road, in Stapleford, Nottinghamshire. Mary died in 1889 and he remarried, to a woman called Ellen. In 1901 he was the Colliery Manager in Cossall in Nottinghamshire. He died in 1905.
