Alice Holding was born in 1887 in Aspull and was the daughter of Richard Holding (1859) and Ann Heyes. In 1891 she was living at 10 Higher Gullet, Aspull. In 1901 she was living at 2 Brook Street, Aspull, and working as a tenter in a cotton mill. In 1911 she was living at 111 Clock Face Road, St. Helens.
