Charlotte Holding was born in 1826, probably in Duxbury, and was the daughter of John Holding (1785) and Jane Darbyshire. In 1838 she was a witness at the marriage of her elder sister Fanny to William Ainscough. In 1841 she was living in Grimshaw Cottages, Haigh.
