Notes for Edmund Pomfrey
Edmund Pomfrey was born in 1809 in Hingham and was the son of Thomas Pomfrey (1786) and Mary Houchen. He married Mary Ann Jones in Bloomsbury in 1845. In 1851 he was working as a butler in the household of George Birch, a retired surgeon, at the Lodge in Horley. In 1861 he was working as a domestic servant - exact position unclear - in the household of Elizabeth Boyce at The Lodge in Ashill. He had retired by 1871 and was living in Mill Road, Watton, where he was "enjoying an independancy". He died in Hackney in early 1880.
