Louisa Eke was the daughter of John Eke (1808) and Susannah Scott and was born in Guestwick, in 1830. In 1841 and 1851 she was living on the Green Guestwick. In 1861 she was living in the household of, and employed as nursemaid by machine wool comber Matthew Todd at 11 Nelson Square, Horton, near Bradford. In 1871 she was employed as a cook at the Black Lion Hotel, 64 High Street, Holy Trinity, Stockton-on-Tees. In 1881 she was working as a cook and living at 45 West Terrace, Normanby in Middlesbrough.
