Notes for Richard Rawston
Richard Rawston was born around 1812 in Little Walsingham and was the son of William Rawston (1784) and Mary Ann Folker. He married Susannah Smith in 1832 in Little Walsingham. In 1841 he was living in Common Place, Little Walsingham, and working as a bricklayer. In 1845 he was the landlord of the Bull in Little Walsingham. In 1851, as well as being the landlord of the Robin Hood, he was a farmer of 16 acres of land, a bricklayer and the employer of five men and three boys. He was still at the Robin Hood in 1854. In 1861 he was living in Creake Road and working as a bricklayer employing men and boys. In 1871 he was still living in the Robin Hood as the head of a household, but was not the landlord. He was listed as a master bricklayer. By 1881 he was living in Egmere Road in Little Walsingham. He was living with a Maria Purdy in Egmere Road - probably a relation of his daughter Ann. He was listed as a bricklayer in 1883. He died in Little Walsingham in 1889, aged 77.
