Mabel Mary Pomfrey was born on 10th December 1882 in Lowestoft and was the daughter of Edmund Pomfrey (b.1843) and Mary Timbers. In 1891 she was aged 9, was at school and was living at 4 Sydney Cottages, Lowestoft. In 1901 she was aged 19, was working as a dressmaker and boarding in Falcon Yard, Little Walsingham. In 1911, listed as May Mary, she was working as a lady's maid and living with her recently widowed mother in the High Street in Little Walsingham. Living at 69 Oakley Street, she married soldier Henry Allsop in Chelsea on 9th January 1915, and they were divorced or separated before 1939. In 1939 she was living at 27 Holblack [Holbeach?] Road in Norwich and working as a lady’s maid. She died in the Norwich area in 1940.
