Thomas Kingaby was born in Norwich around 1826, and was the son of Hingham bricklayer Thomas Kingaby (1804) and his wife Charlotte. In 1841 the family was living in Bath Road, west Hackney, where Thomas was listed as a hairdresser. In 1851 he was a commercial traveller selling shoes and lodging in the household of James Cooper, a bricklayer from Hingham, at 5 Alfred Place, Bermondsey. He married Mary Houchen, daughter of Edmund Houchen (1804) a Hingham butcher, on 8th June 1857 . In 1861 he was a hairdresser in Hingham. In 1871 he was listed as the postmaster of Hingham. Thomas was a Hingham stationer and the town postmaster in 1881, living in Cooper's Lane, and in 1883. Thomas was also listed in gazetteers in 1869 and 1877 - always as a postmaster. He was present at his aunt Mary Houchen's death in Hingham in 1885, and his last census entry was in 1891, where he is listed simply as the Postmaster. He died in 1892.
