William Mangnall was born in Westhoughton in 1863 and was the son of Jesse Mangnall (1838) and Alice Holden. In 1871 he was living in Grove Lane, Westhoughton. In 1881 he was living in Kingsdown Terrace, Harrington Road, Abram, and working as a coal miner. He married Sarah Ann Unsworth in 1884. In 1891 he was living at 102 Market Street, Westhoughton, and working as a coal miner. In 1901 (listed as Magnall) he was still living at 102 Market Street and working as a coal hewer. In 1911 he was working as a coal hewer and living at 109 Market Street, Westhoughton.
