William Knights was the son of William Goldspink (1825) and Myra Knights and was born in Lowestoft in 1859. In 1861 he was listed as a lodger in the household of bricklayer William Newson in Hempland, Lowestoft. In 1871 he was living at 1 Runacles Cottage, Kirkley.
