Sidney Broughton was born on 4th December 1907 in Pakefield and was the son of Lemuel Charles Broughton (b.1878) and Daisy Pomfrey. After serving for many years in the Royal Navy, he became a gardener at the Royal Naval School of Gunnery in Whale Island. Sidney married Stella Benns in Lowestoft in 1930. He was living at 36 Harold Road, Portsmouth in 1939 and was an Able Seaman in the Royal Navy. He died in Portchester, Hants in 2001.
