Edward Coop was born in Westhoughton in 1851 and was the son of James Coop (1820) and Elisabeth Mangnall. In 1851 he was living with his parents and grandparents at Dobb Brow, Westhoughton. In 1861 he was working as a silk picker and was living at Dobb Brow, Westhoughton.
