Notes for Jane Ainscough
Jane Ainscough was the daughter of John Ainscough (1810) and Mary Benson and was born in Haigh in 1848. In 1861 she was living in Gullet, Aspull. In 1871 she was living with her elder sister Elizabeth - and her first illegitimate child, Mary Elizabeth - in West Derby. She had two children by an unknown man between 1871 and 1874. She became the second wife of Robert Halliwell (1841) in 1877. In 1881 she was living at 3 Lower Gullet, Aspull. By 1891 she had been widowed and was living at 93 Lower Gullet, Aspull. In 1901 she was living with four of her children at 493 Bolton Road, Aspull. She died in the Wigan RD in 1909, aged 61.
