William
Winward was born in Westhoughton around 1876 and was the son of John
Winward (1848) and Ann Mangnall. In 1881 he was aged 5, and was living
at 204 Church Street, Westhoughton. In 1891 he was aged 15 and was
a cotton drawer living at 2 Lime or Lane Street, Westhoughton. In
1901 he was aged 25, was living at 4 Derwent Street in Bolton, and
was working as a yarn twister in a cotton mill.
