Thomas Winward was born around 1882 in Westhoughton and was the son
of Samuel Winward (b.1852) and Emma Mangnall. In 1891 he was aged
9, was at school and was living at 27 Grundy Street, Westhoughton.
In 1901 he was aged 19, was working as a coal miner and was living
at 6 Leigh Common, Westhoughton.
