E Winward was born in Westhoughton in 1890 and was the daughter of
John Winward (1848) and Ann Mangnall. In 1891 she was aged 1, and
was living at 2 Lime or Lane Street, Westhoughton. In 1901 she was
aged 11, was living at 4 Derwent Road, Bolton, and was working as
an apprentice to a mill mechanic.
