MARY ELLEN WINWARD (1877 - 1959) Camera button

Mary Ellen Winward was born on 19th December 1877 at Church Street, Westhoughton and was the daughter of Samuel Winward and Emma Mangnall. In 1881 she was aged 3 and was living at 37 Grundy Street, Westhoughton. In 1891 she was aged 13, was working as a calico cotton dyer and was living at 27 Grundy Street. She married George Ainscough (b.1870) on 5th November 1898 at St Bartholomew's Church, Westhoughton. She was living at 6 Leigh Common, Westhoughton. In 1901 she was aged 23 and was living at 49 New Brunswick Street, Horwich. She later moved to 17 Leicester Street (now Leicester Avenue) in Horwich and, after George's retirement, to 1 Ox Hey Lane in Lostock. She died on 13th July 1959 and was buried in Ridgemont Cemetery.
