EDMUND
POMFREY (1810 - 1880)
|
Edmund
Pomfrey was born in 1810 in Hingham and was probably the son of Thomas
Pomfrey (1786) and Mary Houchen. He married Mary Ann Jones in Bloomsbury
in 1845. In 1851 he was working as a butler in the household of George
Birch, a retired surgeon, at the Lodge in Horley. In 1861 he was working
as a domestic servant - exact position unclear - in the household
of Elizabeth Boyce at The Lodge in Ashill. He had retired by 1871
and was living in Mill Road, Watton, where he was "enjoying an
independancy". He died in Hackney in early 1880. Edmund and Mary
Ann had one son: William Edmund (1849).
