Mary
Ann Insker was born in Langley, Worcs., in 1850 and was the daughter
of Charles Ainscough (1818) and Charlotte Derbyshire. In 1851 she
was living with her widowed mother in Langley Green, Oldbury. In 1861
she was living with her mother in the household of Samuel Sneed or
Smeeth in Sycamore Lane, Oldbury. In 1871, listed as Mary Ann Smeeth,
she was living in Sycamore Lane and working as a brick maker. In 1881
she was living with Samuel and family in Clay Land, Oldbury, and working
as a brickmaker. In 1891 she was a boarder in the household of labourer
Henry Hadley in Causeway Green Road, Warley, and working as a labourer
in a brick works. In 1901 she was living with Henry Hadley's widow,
Alice, at Causeway Green Road and working as an office cleaner in
a brick works.
