| George Holding was the son of James Holding (1838) and Mary and was born in Hindley in 1867. In 1871 he was living in Ladies Lane, Hindley. In 1881 he was living at 19 Chapel Street in Ilkeston and was working a colliery weighing machine. By 1891 he was living at 34 Station Road in Ilkeston and was a coal mine deputy. He married Elizabeth Rimmington in the Grantham RD in 1891. In 1901 he was living at 57 Stanton Road and was a mine manager.
