Joseph Eke was born in Foulsham in 1849 and was the son of Joseph Eke (1811) and Charlotte. In 1851 he was living in Foulsham. In 1861 he was living in the Street in Hindolveston and working as an agricultural labourer. He married a woman called Louisa In 1868. In 1881 he was working as a general labourer in Foulsham and, in 1891, he was workin as an agricultural labourer and living in Church Road, Runwell, Chelmsford.
