William
Broughton was born around 1813 in Plumstead and was the son of Samuel
Broughton (1787) and Ann Steward. He was the grandson of Robert Broughton
(1748). He married Elizabeth Thurston in Plumstead. In 1841 he was
working as an agricultural labourer in Plumstead. In 1851 he was working
as a farm labourer in Plumstead. In 1861 he was working as a yard
man in Billngford. In 1871 he was a farm steward in Plumstead Road,
Edgefield. By 1891 he was living "on his own means" in The
Green, Edgefield. He died in 1894 and was buried in Edgefield on September
29th 1894.
