Broughton was born in Norwich in 1872 and was the daughter of Joshua
Broughton (b. 1839) and Charlotte Andrews. She was the granddaughter
of John Broughton (b. 1809). In 1881 she was aged 8, at school and
living at Thorn Lane in Norwich. In 1891 she was aged 18, was working
as a mineral water assistant and living at 8 Wright's Yard in Norwich.
In 1901 she was aged 28 and was working as a ladies companion to 52-year
old Emily Jones, principal of a Norwich day school. She was living
with Miss Jones at 37 Victoria Street, Norwich). |
