JAMES BROUGHTON (1834 - ?)
James Broughton was born in Edgefield in 1834 and was the son of Robert Broughton (1798) and Sarah Woodyard. He was the grandson of John Broughton (1768). In 1851 he was aged 17, was working on his father's farm and was living in Edgefield. In early 1861 he was working as a blacksmith and living in the household of his elder brother Robert at Cross Green, Edgefield. He married Sarah Ann Potter in Edgefield on 17th November 1861. In 1881 he was working as a blacksmith in Holt and living in Hempstead Road. By 1891 Sarah had died and he had moved to Station Road in Holt. In 1901 he was working as a blacksmith in Letheringsett.
