John Coe Broughton was born in 1865 in Catton, Norwich and was the
son of Joshua Broughton (b. 1839) and Charlotte Andrews. He was the
grandson of John Broughton (b. 1809). In 1881 he was aged 16, was
an apprentice blacksmith, and was living in Beaneys Gardens in Norwich
St Julian. He married Emma Munford, the widow of William George Twiddy,
in 1895. She had two children - George and Blanche - when Joshua married
her. In 1901 Joshua was aged 35, was working as a blacksmith - possibly
for his father - and was living at 93 Goldwell Road, Norwich. |
