| Joshua
Broughton - known sometimes as Joshua Coe Broughton or Josiah Broughton
- was born in Spixworth in 1839 and christened on 17th August 1839.
He was the son of John Broughton (b.1809) and Mary Catherine Coe.
In 1841 he was aged 2 and was living at the forge near the church
in Spixworth. In 1851 he was aged 12, was at school and was living
at the forge at Lone Barn, south of Spixworth village. By 1861 he
had moved to Norwich with his parents, was lodging in Honingham, and
was working as a blacksmith. Around 1864 he married Charlotte Andrews
and, in 1871, was living with his family at 13 Wilderness Place, North
Side, in Norwich. In1881, Joshua and his family were living in Beaney's
Gardens in Norwich. Joshua was aged 41 and working as a blacksmith.
He was working in Norwich as a blacksmith in 1891 and had moved to
8 Wright's Yard, off Ber Street. He was listed as a coach smith in
Kelly's directories of Norfolk from 1892 to 1904. In 1901, he was
aged 61 and was working as a coach and general smith in Wright's Yard.
