Joseph
Booth was the son of William Booth (1840) and Mary, and was born around
1871 in Blackrod. In 1881 he was aged 10, was living in Little Scotland,
Blackrod, and was at school. In 1891 he was living at 4 Blundell Lane,
Blackrod, and was working as a coal miner. He married Ellen Ann Hampson
in 1895. In 1901 he was living at 20 Little Scotland, Blackrod, and
working as a coal miner. Joseph and Ellen had at least three children:
William (1896), Thomas (1897) and Peter Turace (1900).
