Arthur
Leigh Bellingall was the son of James Bellingall (1831) and Mary and
was born in Reddish in 1877. In 1881 he was living at 57 Manchester
Street, Manchester. In 1891 he was working as an apprentice mechanic
and was living at 12 Stafford Street, Reddish. He married Alice Powell
in 1897 at St. Elisabeth's church, Reddish. In 1901 he was working
as a printing machine fitter and was living at 13 Roseberry Street,
Reddish. In 1923 he was living at 6 Apsley Road in Denton. In 1927 he left England to join his son Fred in America, arriving in Halifax, Nova Scotia on the S.S. Cedric. He crossed into America on 12th January 1927 and his stated destination was 259 Kenilworth Avenue, Detroit, where his wife and his son's family were living. His occupation was listed as a machinist and his age was given as 51 years and 5 months. He was mistakenly listed as "Alfred" on the manifest.
