JAMES BARTON (1848 - ?)
James Barton was born in Westhoughton around 1848 and married Alice Winward (1843), the daughter of James Winward (1822) and Mary Taylor, around 1867. In 1873 and 1881, he was a coal miner and living at 206 Church Street in Westhoughton. James and Alice had at least five children: M.A. (1868), E.A. (1871), Jane (1874), Betsy (1876) and James (1880).
