William
Ainscough was born around 1878 in Aspull and was the son of Charles
Ainscough (1848) and Miriam O'Hara. He was the grandson of William
Ainscough (1816). In 1881 he was aged 3 and living at 61 Scot Lane
in Aspull. In 1891 he was aged 13, was working as a drawer in a coal
mine and was living at 17 Holly Street, Aspull. He married a woman
called Elizabeth Helen Ellis in 1900 at the same time that their daughter Annie was born. In 1901 he was
aged 23, working as a coal miner and living at 7 Back Sydney Street,
Pemberton.
