RALPH AINSCOUGH (1899-1967) Camera button

Ralph Ainscough was born on 13th March 1899 at 49 New Brunswick Street in Horwich. He was the son of George Ainscough (b. 1870) and Mary Ellen Winward. In 1901, he was aged 2 and was living at 49 New Brunswick Street. In 1913 he left full-time schooling to become an apprentice fitter at the Horwich Locomotive works. He was called up to join the Royal Flying Corps as an engineer in 1918, but was demobilised halfway through his training when the war ended. He married Alice Waite on 19th July 1921 at St. Catherine's Church in Horwich. For much of his life he lived at Hilton Avenue in Horwich. He died from stomach cancer on 12th October 1967 at Hilton Avenue.
