Jane Ainscough was born around 1870 in Pemberton and was the daughter of John Ainscough (b. 1839) and Alice Baines. She was the granddaughter of William Ainscough (b. 1816). In 1881 she was aged 11, was at school and living at 2 Little Lane, Pemberton.
